TAKE A HIKE is an annual hike-a-thon event to raise funds for Wilderness Trail, bring our ministry family together, and break in our boots for the new hiking season!

TAKE A HIKE 2011 will take place throughout the month of April in Florida and North Carolina. Hikers in Waynesville, NC will enjoy a "hike" around scenic Lake Junaluska, while those in Winston-Salem, NC will traverse the beautiful Lake Salem. Tampa Bay hikers will experience an out-and-back route on the Pinellas Trail starting at Pioneer Park in Dunedin. Take-a-Hike will take place during the mornings at each location.

Sunday, April 3: Winston-Salem, NC

Saturday, April 9:  Tampa Bay, FL

Saturday, April 30:  Waynesville, NC

Each Step to Further WT's Purpose!   Summer Event attendance has increased 60% since 2006 - that means WT must expand in order to avoid turning people away!  All the money raised will help fund this growth while avoiding major increases in registration fees.

What exactly is TAKE A HIKE

TAKE A HIKE day will include an opening ceremony, a multi-mile hike, live music, food and prizes. Leading up to the  event, hiking teams will raise money in groups. Each team member will raise money individually to contribute to the team total. There are prizes for both individuals and teams. On the day of TAKE A HIKE, teams will turn in their money, enjoy the festivities and take a hike!

How can I be a part of it?

If you would like to lead or join a team (be it your youth group, Sunday School class, small group, best friends, work staff, etc.) call or email Alisa for information and materials. Serving as a Team Captain or joining a hiking team is a fun, and easy way to help Trail grow for years to come!

I'm not sure I want to be a Team Captain, what do they do?

Team Captains help recruit members to their team- anyone who wants to join a team is welcome- whether they are a WT alum or a newbie! Ask your family, friends, and fellow WT hikers to join you. Team captains also help raise awareness by helping to educate your teammates, set a team goal - think at least $100 per hiker, and help motivate and thank your team.

Don’t live in one of the areas hosting TAKE A HIKE?

No problem! You can still participate by raising money, and even putting on your own TAKE A HIKE walk.
