Our Location
Wilderness Trail operates out of a small town called Troutdale, in the southwest corner of Virginia. We are located near Mt. Rogers, the highest point in the state, and about 12 miles from Damascus, VA, home of the annual "Trail Days." The area around our property has been called "the Montana of the east" for its peaks and highlands. Backpacker Magazine has ranked "Buzzard Rock," on Whitetop Mountain, as one of the top ten views in the United States.

During our hikes, we pass through the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area, George Washington and Jefferson National Forests, and Grayson Highlands State Park. We use the Appalachian, Iron Mountain, Pine Mountain, and Virginia Creeper trails, among others.
Each hike begins and ends at the W.T. Property. Each Summer Event begins and ends at our 60+ acres in Troutdale, VA - affectionately known as "the Property" among our ministry family. Hikers gather for meals, worship, games, and fellowship at our lodge. Eight sleeping shelters and one Adirondak offer rustic accommodations. The "Group Building Course" provides opportunities for each hiking group to work together.
Each week, we worship and have communion at our outdoor chapel. Horseshoe pits, a basketball court, volleyball court, four square, and rocking chairs on the porch of our lodge provide entertainment during free time. The infamous Weaver Field is the best wiffle ball field this side of the Mississippi. Staff housing, an equipment shed, and a bathhouse round out our facilities.
