A backpacking and adventure ministry.

d

These family-oriented weekend hikes take place each May and October.  They are a great time for spiritual reflection and enjoying beautiful scenery in good company.  Ages 5 and up may participate; trails are chosen for each hiking group to suit the smallest or least experienced participant.  Individuals, families, or groups are welcome.  All youth must be accompanied by an adult chaperone.  Chaperones must be over 21 years old unless prior approval is given.

For each event we ask participants to arrive between 6 and 8pm on the first evening (Thursday or Friday night).  That night is spent at the Property for worship, preparation, and fellowship.  The following morning participants leave our Property around 8:30am for their overnight backpacking trip, day hike, or biking trip.  Day Event participants are returned to the Property that evening for more fellowship, a good meal, and some worship.  Overnight groups are picked up Sunday morning in time to turn in equipment and have a worship service at our Chapel at 11am.  Participants are welcome to leave as early as they need to on Sunday, but no later than 11:45am.

All events are dependent upon registration; in the case of cancellation due to low registration, your fees will be fully refunded.

The registration fees for spring and fall events include use of a pack and tent, staffing, sleeping accommodations, a trail souvenir, breakfast at the property and dinner(s) on trail.  Each participant is responsible for his/her own breakfast, lunch, and snack food on trail, as well as any hot beverages.  Day Event participants are responsible for their own snacks and lunch while hiking or biking.  Refer to the packing list for more details and suggestions of food to bring.

There are two options for registration.  First, you can print, complete, and send in the Registration form.  Second, you can pay online, and once we receive notification of your payment we will contact you for more information.  Note that prices increase after May 1.  Spaces are limited and our Spring and Fall Events typically fill, so register as soon as possible to ensure your participation.

Informed Consent Form.  Each participant must have a completed Informed Consent in order to hike.  Participants under the age of 18 must have this form signed by a parent or guardian.  Other medical waivers cannot substitute for ours.  When we receive your registration, we will send you one of these in triplicate.  PLEASE NOTE:  If you choose to print one via this link, you must make 2 additional copies after you complete it, for a total of 3 completed copies.  This link is provided primarily for those registering too late to be mailed a triplicate form.

Leadership for our Spring and Fall Events is provided by our Servant Leaders.  These are experienced hikers ages 18 and older who have completed our Servant Leadership Course, or who have served as Summer Staff.  They are trained to handle the medical, practical, and spiritual demands of leading a hiking group.

If these events peak your interest but don't exactly fit your needs, you might want to consider a Catered Event.  For groups of 10+ we are happy to offer catered backpacking, day event, or retreat experiences.  These can take place over a weekend or during the week.  Our Property is open for use from late April to early November.  Typically catered events may be scheduled only when Wilderness Trail events are not taking place.  For more information email mary@wtrail.com
